The Foundation has three core programs: the Business and Work Program (formerly the Business and Communities Grants Program), the Hitachi Community Action Partnership, and the Yoshiyama Young Entrepreneurs Program (formerly the Yoshiyama Award for Exemplary Service to the Community).
Planning is an ongoing process at the Foundation resulting, every five years, in the articulation of a new strategic plan. Business and Society, the Foundation's 2009-2013 Strategic Plan, sharply focuses the Foundation's three programs on how business practices and policies can measurably improve people's lives while also enhancing business value.
Since our founding in 1985, the Foundation has contributed more than $42 million in grants and awards. This includes nearly 700 grants awarded through what is now known as the Business and Work program, 4000 grants to local organizations through our Hitachi Community Action Partnership and 205 Yoshiyama awards to young people recognized for their outstanding contributions to their communities.
